Artist Statement
This body of work began as an urge to strip away all pretense and to photograph things I enjoyed looking at and wanted to look at again. In doing so, a theme emerged in images that appeared to be portraits of a home or building as much as they were studies of the space surrounding them. While no environment is truly permanent (in fact, some of these subjects have already been torn down), this work seeks to capture that fleeting semblance of permanence within a rapidly changing environment.
